ASD Symptoms & Diagnosis

Understanding Autistic Spectrum Disorder and how it relates to ADHD.

Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how a person communicates, interacts with others, and experiences the world. It is one of the most common co-occurring conditions alongside ADHD.

Research shows that for children with ADHD, 20-30% also have ASD, and for children with ASD, around 50% also have ADHD. This significant overlap is why we believe it is essential to assess for both conditions during every assessment.

ASD can sometimes present with symptoms that overlap with or mimic ADHD, making accurate differential diagnosis crucial. An assessment that considers both conditions together provides a clearer and more accurate picture of your child's needs.
