Partnering with the NHS on children’s ADHD

ADHDX is a HealthTech start-up focused on addressing the complexities of ADHD. Media coverage of the NHS often highlights the challenges of adult ADHD, where assessments and treatment are complicated by life experiences and less clear clinical presentations; one-hour private assessments are insufficient for accurate diagnosis or effective treatment.

Our philosophy prioritises reducing long-term complications by improving access for primary school children. We aim to:

  • Diagnose ADHD when symptoms are clear.
  • Support parents in understanding the condition.
  • Ensure early, effective treatment to prevent future issues.

ADHDXAI

Our MHRA Class I certified clinician support tool. It does not make clinical judgements or diagnoses; every report is written and approved by a doctor.

A Class IIa workflow tool

Redesigning the clinical workflow, from the first concerns raised by parents or schools to the appropriate assessment and treatment channel:

  • Complex cases prioritised for early access and intensive support within mental health trusts.
  • Less complex cases managed cost-effectively in primary care.

Pioneering the school-based model

In collaboration with St Robert Southwell Catholic Primary School in Brent, we assessed 25 children with suspected ADHD. The model aligns with the ADHD Taskforce recommendation to work closely with schools and SENDCOs: it is less disruptive for children, more convenient for parents, and provides greater accuracy by incorporating direct teacher feedback. We plan to develop the model further through pilot programmes with the NHS.
